SYNOPSIS: 21-year-old wannabe actor Tyler is a young, cute and trendy gay boy, but he has a
secret: he’s attracted to big, burly, hairy "bears". Up until now, he's been too timid to do anything
about it aside from flirt online. Enter 30-something bear Fred and his hipster boyfriend, Brent, who
happen to be looking for a roommate. Soon Tyler has moved in and become part of the couple's
social circle. At the circle's center is Roger, the hottest musclebear in the tri-state area. Tyler is
attracted to Roger, but his chances are slimmer than his own physique - or are they? An unlikely
friendship and spark forms between the pair, but a few outside elements keep coming in between
them. Add in a handful of friends with even more romance, frisky agendas, and problems and
you've got a whole lot of fur flying!
There is nudity in this project.
SEEKING:
[TYLER] 18-late 20s to play 21. Slim/toned, very boyishly handsome, and smart. Flirty. Tyler is

at first, Tyler easily fits into the scene and develops a crush on Roger. NUDITY: Rear, Side
[SANTA] 55+. Tyler has a fantasy about sleeping with Santa Claus. One line. Must have full
beard. NUDITY: Rear, Side.
[MUSCLEBEARS AND DADDYBEARS] 30s-50s. Big muscular or heavy men with facial hair.

American history, one that ultimately emerges as a testament to hope, endurance, rebirth, and
survival.
NOTE: Actors should prepare two songs contrasting in style/tempo, appropriate for the show
(including contemporary musical theater/pop (in the style of Jason Robert Brown, Adam Guettel
pop feel w/ complex rhythms), Depression-era music, and folk opera). Selections should show

DRESSED IN BLACK is inspired by and incorporates the music of 1960’s girl-rebel groups such
as the Shangri-Las, and the enduring power of their cult anthems. Set in the present day,
DRESSED IN BLACK is the story of MARY, an introverted outcast of a teenager left brokenhearted,
angry and alone after her protector and only friend, her sister KATIE, abandons her for a
boy. Exactly one year later, Mary is given a clue as to her sister’s whereabouts and must finally
summon the courage seek out and confront her. Mary soon finds herself hitching a high-speed
ride with JO-ANN and JOANIE, a pair of sharp-tongued, mod-to-the-max twin sisters, who know
exactly how to unleash her inner hellcat. Suited in black leather and smoldering with sexuality,
Mary ventures into the neon red streets of Brooklyn, rife with wicked personalities. Drawing
courage from the reverberating bass lines, deep piano chords and fervent crescendos of her most
provoking bad-girl ballads, Mary will ultimately find her sister so that they may together perform
one last deadly song.
SEEKING:
[MARY] 18 years old. Pretty. Initially, young and naive, but by the end of her journey she is sexy,
ruthless, and in control. Queens native. Consumed by the music of 1960’s girl-rebel groups, Mary
has never fit in with her peers, with the exception of her only friend and protector her sister Katie.
When Katie abandons her to run off with Danny, Mary is hurt, angry, and alone. After a year, she
goes to track down Katie and with the help of sharp-tongued twins Jo-Ann and Joanie transforms
into a black leather clad vixen not unlike the retro girl-rebels that are always playing in her head.
As she gains confidence with her new look and attitude, she arrives at a final confrontation with
Katie where she is the one in control and forces her sister to bend to her will. (LEAD)
[KATIE] 20 years old. Pretty, outgoing, sexy. Queens native. The dominant personality in her
family, she is the protector and only real friend of her shy, reclusive sister Mary. After an
encounter on Far Rockaway Beach with retro-hot Danny, Katie escapes her Queens life and runs
off on the back of Danny’s motorcycle to a world of smoky black-clad mod Brooklyn parties. After
a year, her abandoned sister Mary tracks her down, but not before being made-over inside and
out with the help of twins Jo-Ann and Joanie. When Mary arrives at Katie’s door for their final
confrontation, she has become the dominant force and it is Katie who has to bend to the force of
Mary’s will. (LEAD)
